Default Are golden axolotls rarer than wild type or albinos?

Seems they are hard to find, everyone always talks about having wild type or albino eggs for sale, but never gold. I would like to find one, so it's disappointing to never come across them. Any information regarding the situation would be fantastic!

Hi,

They are more common than what they were 20 years ago,but i agree still pretty rare i ended up traveling 90 miles to get mine, and when i got there was not in great condition but between traveling to get her i took her anyway.

Breeders and pet shops tend to have pink lecustics/ albinos in as they are more "attactive to potential buyers" i should know ive got 4 lol.

Mabey you could put out a wanted add on this according to the country you live.

Someone might be able to offer you one.

Best of luck.

I remember that, when I got my axolotls, it seemed like the first few places I tried had lots of goldens and not much else. I didn't really want a golden, so it took me a bit of looking to find a leucistic. (Shout out to Michael Shromm, for hooking me up with beautiful, healthy axolotls. )

Axolotls which are just albino are golden, so it may be you have overlooked the eggs you are looking for! I get the impression that in europe leucistics and wild types are commoner than albinos, and albinos are a bit commoner in the US.
