you don't "handle" and axolotl. If you need to move it from one tank to another an aquarium net will work just fine. Don't pick it up with your hands

Axolotl skin is delicate, and can be easily injured by our hands. On top of that, unless you've REALLY washed your hands, and rinsed rinsed rinsed, your hands likely have contaminates on them that can be harmful to your axolotl.

And visa versa, theyhave stuff on them you don't wanna rub in your eyes :-)

My vote is like the rest - don't handle them at all if you can avoid it, and if you have to, wash your hands thouroughly before and after
