Question: Toes?

Hey I'm fairly (and by fairly I mean incredibly) new to owning an axolotl and I noticed that my Mudkip has a different number of toes on almost every limb..one has five, another has six, another has 3, and one only has 2, and its more like a forked limb than "fingers"...is this normal at all?

...(you can kind of see the forked limb in the second picture)...also his gills are always sort of messy, not forward, not quite back...just...all over the place almost bed-head-ish., anyone else have an axie like this?

The normal number of toes is 4 on the front and 5 on the back. But sometimes they don't grow right in the first place, or injuries regenerate with a different number of toes. It doesn't hurt them any having various numbers of toes.

He's a lovely little pokemon :) He is absolutely fine, anyway, just means he has more toes to swim with :)

awesome thanks! I always figured it was from a previous injury or just not being cared for properly, since we got him from a girl that didn't know much about axolotls and had bought him from a really shady mall in markham. But i'm glad the odd numbers of toes wont hurt him,
