Hiya Sammy Im really sorry your Axolotl has died Im still a newb, I tried to google for you but couldn't really find anything to suggest its poisonous or anything to animals perhaps it had been treated with a chemical or something? I dont know I just felt bad reading your post and not trying to help, I hope someone can answer this better for you soon. |

I don't know exactly what kind of plant you're talking about, but spanish moss is actually in the bromeliad family, and a part of the air plants. They normally grow from trees in the southern united states, creating a kind of haunted appearance. They are the opposite of aquatic and would not fare well at all underwater. Can you post a pic? Spanish moss might just be a regional term for a different plant. The moss you got might have been dyed or treated with chemicals and that could have affected your axie

Right, the term "spanish moss" could mean several different things depending on where you live. Was it a pet store product or something you found outside? It certainly sounds possible that the moss (or what the moss did to the water quality) killed the axolotl. So sorry.

i Dont have a pic at the moment bbut i can get one..unfortunatley i did not read the bag before puttin it in the tank..it was from walmart and it turns out the ONLY thing the bag said was for plants ..poting plants and decor..so i suppose i shouldnt haven taken my bfs word for it but i thought he knew what he was talking about.....so yeah unfortunaltly i was irresponsible bue to advice that was not exactly correct, perhaps.. i honestly believe the dried moss once ut into the water it robbed all the oxygen so he suffocated perhaps? |
