I'm wondering about starting a wormery. I read on the internet about it and I see the instructions about a regular plastic bin with sand and newspaper, dirt, and then some of the compost and vegetables from the garden. I'm wondering if the compost from my kitchen will harm my axolotl when I feed him the worms from the wormery. I'm just worried about what his diet is and whatnot. I'd buy the earth worms from a bait shop I suppose and they should be safe, but I'm just wondering if the wormery worms will be safe even when other little bugs get inside the wormery too because it's bound to happen.

Please review this subforum: Food: Live, Frozen, Freeze-Dried, Pellets, etc - Earthworms, Nightcrawlers, etc at Caudata.org Newt and Salamander Portal. There are many threads discussing culturing earthworms.
