Hi guys and girls, im new to this forum , so firstly. hi, i have had my 2 axolotls jimmy and kimmy for just over a year now, i put them into a 4foot tank a few months ago, and im a bit concerned ,because, they are both white with the red gills, but one of my axolotls gills are deep dark red and always forward, and he/she doesnt move around much. but the gills are grown long so them being forward could be cause theyre heavy? and the other axolotl swims round the tank , i always see him/her swimming but its gills are a faint pinky red, anyone got any ideas. they are both roughly the same age ,and same size, cheers josh |

Sounds like he might be backed up. I notice that my two albinos' go deep red when they are trying to pass something, when I check again they have usually proven me right and it's out with the siphon. Perhaps try fridging him, if he is constipated then this will help him to clear it. Here's the fridging guide http://www.caudata.org/axolotl-sanctuary/Fridging.shtml |
