Default Morphed axolotl

Hey

I brought home a morphed axolotl the other day and Iím concerned that itís not eating. How long can they go without food? I have no idea when it was last fed by the previous owner. Iíve offered crickets and worms with no success.

She/heís around 8cm and in a reptile one reptile tank with pure top soil, coco fibre, sphagnum moss and two hides. It also has a large shallow dish of dechlorinated water.

Has anyone on here ever owned one of these creatures and could advise me on the food issue and if my set up is okay for a morphie?

Thanks very much!

They are a pain in the butt to feed sometimes, they can be pretty useless feeders. Try feeding chopped worm with tongs, put the food to the side of the mouth so it can grab it. They seem to lack depth perception and will miss food in front of their mouths consistently till they give up, food placed to the side of the head is generally grabbed if they are hungry.

Here's the sellers pic of him. He's still knocking back food. Hopefully he takes something soon.

He is pretty cool looking. Temps are not to high are they? I would try every food available. Might be surprise and it might take a pellet.

Thanks for your help! He ate some grubs from the garden with the heads chopped off. Maybe he doesn't like live food?

It's Winter over here so the temp is still quite cool.
