Hello everyone,
My axie, Poncho, had a cut on his lip about a month ago, and it seemed to heal well but now this has appeared. Is a scab or something more sinister? If so does he need a salt bath?

It's hard to tell what's going on. Up close, does it look infected (red or fuzzy)? In the photo, it looks like an outgrowth, but not infected. If so, then salt baths won't do anything.

Thanks Jennifer,
It doesn't look red or fuzzy up close. What is an outgrowth?

don't worry as long as it doesn't get fusty he should be ok. although the chances are that it will stay like that, my eldest has had the same since she was only 7cm long and she's still got the discolouration and defect and now she's over a year older and 20cm bigger with no problems

By "outgrowth", I just mean some kind of skin growth, like a wart or mole or tumor. Since the axie had an injury there, i's possible that the skin grew too much when it was healing (kind of like the axies that grow back a leg, but it grows in doubled or abnormal).
