Thanks everyone. Really appreciate your help.

My Dad bought me two more axies on the weekend to cheer me up.

There's a melanoid one called Sambuca and a wild-type called Brandy.

Unfortunately he wouldn't let me put them in the fridge for "quarantine" as he has the typical aussie attitude of "she'll be right" and that they won't need to be quarantined. I couldn't put them in a bucket either because they would heat up with the humidity and weather at over 30 degrees celcius each day.

I'm praying that they don't have any nasties that they will pass on to Stella.

My Dad also fixed my pipes in the tank so that there's hardly any water flow anymore. I think there was a bit too much beforehand.

I'll post some pics soon.

haha you sure do love those alcohol names dont ya lol. just keep an eye on the newbies and if anything seems out of the oridnary get em out (those huge plastic bins people use for storage are great as temporary 'tanks')

congrats on the newbies, theyve got a great new mummy

Thanks Sharn! You just made me smile, thinking I'm a good axie mummy. hehe.

I have a theme now, with the alcoholic names - I can't quit now.

I would have put them in my big tubs, but the water will just get too hot for them and I'm not at home all the time to do ice bottles, besides, the only thing wrong with the tank in the aquarium that my dad got them from was that the water was about 24/25 degrees. It is the first axie tank I've seen in Victoria which didn't have gravel. They just had a bare bottom tank with some little pots and plants for them to hide in. They fed them pellets and only had a max of 5 in there at a time and it was a 4ft tank!

I was really happy to see them treating their pets well. I also couldn't resist giving them the address to this site, in hope that they might figure out the temp is a little warm for their axies.

I do think they may have a bit of heat stress, because there is a bit of white mucus stuff on their underbellies.

Here some pics of Sambuca... What do you think?

I know Sammy's a little skinny, but I'll fatten him/her up in no time!

I don't have melafix - I'll have a look around at the aquariums.

I just noticed that one of Brandy's gills looks like it's shedding or something. I just want to make sure it's not fungus. I can't decide whether it looks like it's been bitten off or not.

Re Brandy - im not sure if its been completely bitten off because atm my axie is missing a gill and it doesnt look like that??
Maybe another axie has tried (by accident) but not completely sucked off the whole gill...

???

Nevermind, her gill has come off now - I'm not sure where she put it but it's gone and looks like a nice clean break!

I love them so much! Am so excited!
