I lost my boy few weeks ago. His tail became smaller and smaller. He was eating really well but keep on loosing weight to a point that his back leg bones was sticking through. He died shortly after. Now my female is getting the same simtons. She is in another thank. Plz help still getting over first lost cant loose her to. Water temp18C no amoniac nitrite second bar along on test kit 5 I think and nitrate is beween 0 and second bar(5) . Feeding them axolotl pellets. She loves them, earth worms and gave them blood worms today. Any help plz I am despret!!!!!

Could you post a picture of your axolotl and perhaps her tank? Also, how old and what size is she? How much and how often do you feed her? |

We use to feed them every sendond, third day, but when chrisler became so skinny we went to small amounts everyday. Now we back to every second day. She finish all we give her. Will take photos of tank.

okay I done a nother water test this morning : Ammonia 0.25ppm Nitrite 0.5ppm Nitrrate: 5.0ppm water temputre 18C We feed them every second / third day But when Chrysler became sick we we feeding hiim every day only small ammounts to try getting his wait up. We since when back to every second / third day. |

Your ammonia levels and nitrite levels are too high, they should both be zero. You need to do a water change and get them back to zero. How long have you been cycling the tank for?

weeve been cycling for at lest four weeks but we decide to take the axie out of the tank and cycle iit that way as it will be faster
