Default Traveling with axolotl

Hello all,

Today I drove my axolotl home from college for a total of about six hours in the car. He was kept really cold but now that he is home and in his tank, his gills are turned forward a bit and he doesn't seem interested in eating. Is this common stress from travel?

The stress of being caught twice in one day would be stressful alone - guessing that you put him in a tank once at college - let alone the drive and being in a bag for hours. I think doing this so often wouldn't be a good idea. It stresses fish out so I would think it'd be the same on an axolotl.

I maybe moving twelve hours soon, and I was thinking it probably will kill my guy.

You usually find axolotls have their gills forward when they are stressed from having too much air exposure, which doesn't really make sense unless you had air running in the bag the whole time. . .

With risk of being called insensitive...
I really dont think that it stresses them too much. I have an axie at college as well when I am there. (granted, my drive is only an hour) I move my two axies about 4 times during the year: to and from school twice and once for winter break, once for summer break. I have seen absolutely no signs of stress the next day (but its only an hour drive lol).
I would give it a day or so and try to cover the aquarium completely with a blanket so that no light gets in.
By the way, refusal of food is really common after a move in my experience, for any animal.
