Hi. I just fed Cesar and noticed he has a strange white lump thing on his left eye and have no idea what it is. At first I thought it was something from the tank but when he blinks it doesn't come off. What is it??????? I am worried. He is acting normal and eating etc... I have attached a photo so I hope it comes out clear enough. Lara |

Is there anything else wrong with the Axolotl? Feeding well, active, looking okay? I've never really seen that before.

| Member | Wait, when he blinks? I was under the impression axolotls were lacking eyelids.

| This is correct, they do not have eyelids. He wasn't blinking. Sometimes Axolotls push their eyes back a bit when they eat to push down food, which can look like blinking. Maybe that's what OP saw?

Ok so he moved his eye. Oops sorry. He is really active and still happy. It doesn't look like he is bothered. Seems to be affecting me more than him! The area around the eye looks darker like he has a black eye. I tried searching it and came up with zip. Oh well. I guess as long as he is active, eating well and happy then I shouldn't worry too much. Been having a lot of trouble getting the temp in his tank down. We have a tank fan and put plastic bottles of frozen water in there. So frustrating. |

No need to apologize, I wasn't trying to come off as rude, I was just confused as I've read that they only develop eyelids during the metamorphosis process. He definitely looks happy and healthy. Love those pudgy little hands. Sorry I wasn't able to be of more help.

I think Cesar will be fine. Looks happy and healthy to me! Lucky me, I never have to worry about tank temps. All my Axolotls are in the basement, where temps never exceed 65 F.

Oh I didn't think you were being rude at all. I am embarrassed though! Lol. The tank temp is stressing me out. He looks fine- tail fine, coloring fine, appetite big as always but I struggle to get it below 24C which I know is too high but Japanese houses are like saunas. My son and I will go to the pet shop and ask for help. The guy there thinks I am nuts as I spoil Cesar to bits but he is part of the family. Lol Thanks for your help everyone and words of encouragement. I have only had Cesar a couple of months so am very new to the axolotl world. Lara |
