Have you cycled your tank or recently checked the water quality ? Poor water quality can cause redness from ammonia burns, a high water temp can also have that effect. What is your tank temp and water peramiters?

I called that person i bought the axolotl from, and he said that its an internal fungus, he told me to fridge her, put a little bit of fungus medicine in the water and wait until she gets back to normal, he said that shes probably going to be ok (*fewf*)

Must be a brilliant breeder to diagnose an animal without seeing it. What anti fungal medicine has this genius proscribed? Also check your water peramiters and temp and post the results here.

I think what Nai means is commercial breeders are rarely trustworthy (Don't get me wrong, there are some really good ones out there), so you're much better off asking someone (like us!) who's not in it for a quick buck. We really need to know: Your tank size (Length x width x height)? How much water is in your tank? Your water temperature? What substrate you're using? (If gravel, GET THAT LOTL OUT OF THERE NOW!!!) How much ammonia is in the water (If you don't have a test kit, go out and get one ASAP!)? How much nitrite is in the water? How much nitrate is in the water? The pH of your water? What you've been feeding your axie? How often you've been feeding your axie? How often they've actually EATEN? What medicine have you used (Many MANY medicines that people THINK are okay are TOXIC as cyanide to axolotls)? And as many pics of your axie and your tank as possible. We'll help you get through this, we just need you to work with us.

I had to google "maroxy," appears to be an acceptable treatment for axolotls if they have a fungal condition . Does yours actually have fungus ? The medication may be good for ammonia burns I dont know but you may be dosing the axolotl up unnecessarily if it doesn't. The most likely reason for the redness in your axolotl is poor water quality, as you have discounted temperature. If you fridge your axolotl without addressing the reason it is red you could be treating the symptom and not the cause. If you post your water peramiters and a pic of the axolotl it would be helpful.

I agree with everybody else. I've never heard of an 'internal fungus'. To have someone diagnose that from over the phone is ridiculous. Red skin is almost always indicative of poor water quality.

If your axie is infected, the reason why it got sick in the first place might be because of the water quality/environment as well. Incorrect water parameters stress individuals, which in turn weakens the immune system and paves way to infections a healthy individual may just shrug off. If the maroxy and fridging does somehow work, you should still strive to solve the underlying problem, if any. |

100% percent water changes, red colour on an axolotl, improvement when taken out of the tank, nearly died twice , two axolotls in a ten gallon tank and no nitrates. Unless you understand how to cycle your tank , you are wasting your time posting this thread, your axolotl is suffering from poor water quality, read the link about cycling aquariums Aquarium Cycling . You can do two things after reading my post get annoyed and ignore it, in which case your axolotl will continue to suffer periodic fridging and eventually die, or you can read the link and take appropriate action and have happy pets, the choice is yours.

If you are not sure of anything involved in tank cycling just post it in this thread and it will get answered.
