Question: Best way to use a corner weir?

So went out to pick up my new 6x2x2 tank today...And couldn't 'coz it was five (FIVE!!) centimetres too long to fit in my uncle's car. So we're picking it up next weekend in my other uncle's van :) (And I will be going on a major bake-a-thon during the week to say "thank you!")

But whilst out there, I got to have a good look at it, and it's SOOO pretty!!

HOWEVER, instead of the corner weir just being a 16cm square box in the corner (like I thought it was thanks to the photos!), it has a hole/outlet in the base along with a sponge outlet/tube thingy that screws in (approx 3-4cm in diameter).
My question is what's going to be the best way to use this unexpected turn? I was (Before I knew it wasn't just a box) simply going to put the outlet to my canister (aquaone *Can't think of the line name*) in the box along with some java moss, guppies and shrimp, as I've got the inlet to the canister ready to be incorporated into the substrate filtration system, but with the hole in the base...

Any feedback/ideas would be most appreciated!!

Not sure exactly but sounds like a good idea. Got any pics of it?
