My first little Axolotl man is doing marvelous! He has just about completely grown back his little hind foot that had been nipped off at the store I work at where I acquired him from! I have had him two months now (gosh seems like so much longer to me!) and I can't believe how big and healthy he has gotten! This was him when I first got him last May (notice his hind foot here is missing) ![]() And this is my big guy now! ![]() close up! ![]() Enjoying his dinner! (see how good his foot looks now?) ![]() ![]() ![]() He's officially my favorite pet other than my kitties that I've ever had and he just makes me smile every time I see him and interact with him. Feeding him makes me happier than a bucket of puppies! XD I just had to bring him to the store this week due to a power outage from a mix-up with the electric company, so I did a large cleaning on his tank and used some RO water to fill it back up (changed about 70% of the water) and now it is crystal clear. He will be coming back home tonight and hopefully all will go smoothly! I'm so enjoying myself as I learn about these awesome little creatures and as I watch my little Kreacher grow up! |

He looks great! We had a power outage here recently due to a storm, my critters were not happy haha. I bet Kreacher is glad to be home though!

He's super happy to be home and now in a nice large (4ft 33gallon) aquarium with a new friend. The two of them get along wonderfully and are nice and fat and happy together! YAY! Luckily the weather is starting to cool off so soon we won't need to stress about the temps if the power goes out :P

Be careful with RO water. It lacks minerals and can cause ion loss. If you're using it, mix in a little aquarium salt.

Thanks for that info. I had a feeling this might be the case. I have since stopped using it (once I upgraded to the 33 gallon) so now I'm using conditioned tap water and I have a better filter with two carbon cartridges that take care of the cloudiness for me! UPDATE! Had the tank up and running for several weeks now and Winky is home and the two are best pals! Enjoy some photos! ![]() There's the 33 gallon all finally set up and ready to go! ![]() Winky Dinky! ![]() Kreacher being so photogenic! ![]() Winky's adorable little face! |
