Thumbs up Wards - shipping aquariums

Molch happy

today I got a 30-ga long tank from Wards via UPS. I've been complaining about Wards before because I don't think they have a clue how to ship live specimen, whether it's earthworms or Daphnia or what-nots.

But their customer service is excellent, friendly and very no-nonsense. Most businesses won't ship aquariums, but Wards thought nothin' of sticking a 30-ga long in a big box, beautifully packed, and sending it to me for a ridiculously low 29 $. It arrived to day in perfect shape.

So yes - Wards is excellent for dry goods, and so far the only vendor online I found who is willing to ship a glass aquarium.

Yay! Now I'm gonna order another one

It's remarkable to think of how "easily" you've got it now. If this were my hobby [and I WAS only in grades 3 and 4] when I lived in Fort McPherson...I suspect my parents would have had to make the long drive to Inuvik to pick up whatever was special ordered from Edmonton...probably from a Sears catalog. Newts though? Not a chance. I've no idea how I might have gotten my hands on ANYthing other than a furry critter when I lived there. Yellowknife had a hobby store which stocked a couple herps, which I know they ordered from a business in Edmonton which no longer exists. The scool ordered garter snakes from a bio supply company...probably Boreal but could have been Wards or Carolina. How easy we have it now - apart from international borders. Speaking of which, got any plans to get your hands on Salamandrella?

indeed. I'm still amazed they could send that thing to me for 29$. I called Wards twice to make sure they weren't accidentally under-charging me (that's what I'm like), but they insisted it was correct. .

Inuvik, eh? I rode my bicycle up the Dempster in 1989...when I got to Inuvik, I paid 1.60 $ canadian for one (1) banana; I was so starved for something other than ramen noodles. I almost ate the peel, too....

$29?! That's crazy! It cost me $50 to ship my computer to Fairbanks!

har har!! - I just got another 30 ga tank in the mail from Wards. Same ridiculously low shipping cost, same great packaging, tank arrived in fine shape! So it wasn't a fluke.

Bwuaahaaahaa (mad maniacal laugh). Now (rubs hands) - where am I gonna put it? I could throw out the craft table - wait, nah, I need that for my other hobby...the bookshelf? Nono, it has all my herp books. The dresser/drawer! Out, begone! Do I really need all those clothes? Bah, humbug! Who needs socks and underwear when one has marbled newts?

This one will become a nice fancy-pants habitat for those marms, complete with moss covered drip wall and a beach for bathing and and and... (breathe..breathe..)
