I've kept them on and off they're pretty easy as far as feeding and upkeep goes, they will eat anything that's fast enough and the right size to catch their attention. Breeding is difficult though because from what I have read it requires a lot of space. An out door enclosure is probably the best form of captive environment for them to be in. In the wild they move between a variety of habitats on a yearly cycle, a breeding pond, a summer hiding/hunting place, and a winter hibernation place, there are two "migrations" in one in spring to the ponds and one in fall to the hibernation places. Toads will sometimes go into amplexus before they reach the pond. When acomodating these animals make sure they have all the neccesary habitats.
