Hi my african clawed frogs are ill, it started when my 2 fish died, and 1 of them was dead overnight (I took it out immediatly) and 2 days later 2 of my frogs died. 1 of them had red blotches and you could see their veins. Now another 2 have pinky-red noses/faces and aren't as lively. I can't seporate them because I have newts and axolotls in the other tanks. I'm putting amphibian disease and wound treatment in but I don't know what'll happen. Please Help, I've only had them a year. They are eating, but one of them hadn't eaten in 6 days. Can anyone help??? |

Hello, The first thing I would say is to advise you to get them to a vet for proper assessment of your setup, diagnosis and treatment - including a sample of the old water, as water quality issues would be one major possible underlying cause. Diagnostics may be somewhat limited in these frogs but a vet should be able to assess them for signs of infection, and provide much more effective treatments (antibiotics or other appropriate antimicrobials) than you can get over the counter. Certainly getting them into a clean quarantine setup (although make sure you test/take for testing a sample of the old water) would be the first step, but I would suggest getting them to a vet. I hope you can sort them out. Bruce. | |

Thank you! I did a complete tank clean (including the hiding plants ect..) and they've started eating, one is underweight quite badly. Does anyone know about the red sores on their nose or foot? Sorry! I didn't collect any old water because I was to freaked out that they were dead. Thanks again
