Dear All,
I’m seeking help to identify if my axolotl is infected with saprolegnia or columnaris. A little background, this juvenile axolotl is a rescue & came in with severe cotton-like fungus on its mouth. Specifically only its mouth and nowhere else. He was treated with saltwater bath for 15 mins for 2 weeks & consistent debridement & daily water change.
His appetite has been on & off. No other lesions seen.
However, the cotton-like fungus persist. I’ve since stopped the saltwater bath since it has not proven to be effective. It should also be noted that the other axolotl that came in with this, was found to have anchor worm & this cotton-like fungus on its mouth as well. Debridement seems to work really well on the other and is currently under observation.
