Hi!
I now have some new, very unexpected little ones!! Any ideas on how their color types will develop? I just adopted my first pair of axies ten months ago, this was an amazing surprise! I have 15, and they are 16 days old :)

The second one looks like albino, maybe golden. First one perhaps leucistic? I can't tell from the pic if it's albino. I'm no pro at this though..

Thank you, they keep growing, so I think some might be a surprise. You are most likely right on the golden :)

My axy's surprised us with 244 eggs last Wednesday! Judging by development they are about 7-8 days old. It's so exciting watching them grow and twitch with their cute little microscopic gills :) they are all variety of grey, some with clear tails so will be interesting to see what colours they develop into. Been told to expect almost all wild types as mum is wild and dad a golden albino.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
