I dont know much about them but im doing everything i can to save him. I also read i should put him in like a quarantine and clean it daily for a week or atleast 4 times if I should do that should I not put anything in the water everyday that it is changed. Please someone help I don't want the little guy to die.

Hi there.
Can you post a picture?
What is the tank size?
Tank temp?
Diet?
What are the water levels? ( ammonia, nitrite, and nitrate)
You said this is your daughters, does she handle the care?
What is themaintenance routine?

From the information you gave us, this sounds like a water quality issue. To find out the water levels, you can (and need) to purchase a test kit. API Freshwater Master Liquid Test kit is great and comes with everything you need to test for ammonia, nitrites, and nitrate. Available at petco, petsmart, on amazon, and most stores where fish are sold. Can you tell me how you cleaned the tank? I would recommend doing a 50% water change, which means taking out half of the water and replacing it with conditioned water about the same temp.

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
