Purpose
The United States Caudate Registry (USCR) is a community for newt and salamander hobbyists in the United States. This website is intended to bring keepers together in order to further the captive propagation of newts and salamanders. The USCR aims to accomplish this goal by providing a place where keepers may publicly list what species they keep and breed.

Through this registry, members may contact and communicate with fellow keepers of a certain species, thus spreading experience, techniques, and information regarding captive husbandry and breeding. The registry also serves as a point of contact for people seeking to obtain or distribute captive-bred newts and salamanders. The USCR is not to be used as a way to make contact with the purpose of buying, selling, or trading wild-caught animals; anyone that we find to be using the site for this purpose will be banned.

Registration
While anyone can browse the listings of the USCR, we strongly urge everyone to join the community by registering. Creating an account is easy – simply click “Create Account” and provide the information asked for. Although a “real name” is not required, we encourage all members to include at least a first name and general geographical location in their account information. Any account without a valid e-mail address will be deleted.

Changing your account
To modify your member profile, log in to your user account. From there you have a variety of options such as changing your name, password, and e-mail address. You may also create a short biography or description of your interests. Most importantly, however, on this page you are able to add or delete species you keep. To do this click on the “Add species to your profile” button. A box will appear providing a list of species to choose from along with a space for you to enter information regarding your animals. Information such as subspecies, gender ratio, age, type locality, or any comments you would like to make regarding the animals you keep may be entered here. If a species you want to list does not appear in the menu, you must e-mail the site administrator in order for the desired species to be added to the registry.

If you are unsure of the scientific names of the species, please visit Caudata Culture or search the database at Amphibia Web or, use the forum at Caudata.org to post a message and ask for help.

Contacting registered users
Some users choose to have their e-mail address visible on their profile. Others have their e-mail address hidden. Those with hidden e-mail addresses can be contacted through anonymous e-mail, but only by other registered users.

Site administration
This site is hosted by Caudata.org. If you find this site useful, please consider making a donation. The USCR is run as a group effort by several avid salamander keepers. Our administrator is Brian Sager, and his consultants are Nate Nelson and Jennifer Macke. We welcome suggestions for the site; please contact the administrator.
