I have so many questions! I just got my four Axies and litterly just finally finished fixing their home to look I think they would like it and bamb, eggs..... I figured out which one was mom and put her in the breeder box and she finished laying. I have no idea how to tell apart! I think they are only 5 or 6 months old so I am very concerned about the breding thing.... The eggs are all mostly brown some half white/cream and brown. I don't know the actual colors of my axies they are just wild colored brown/green speceled. The temp is roughly 68 degreese F...... Its been about 48 hours maybe longer since I saw the first ones. Found weds and today is saturday, nothing has changed that I can tell but they don't look yucky/dying either...... oh my goodness HELP:D

Wow! Trial by fire. Welcome to the forum! You might want to set up an egg tank, and look through the axolotl section and you'll learn a lot about raising the eggs.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
