Hello everyone! I am a first time axolotl owner, and was wondering what a good feeding schedule would be for my two new babies. I have two 3-inch axies set up in their tank now, and have been in there for about an hour.

Is it a good idea to feed them today? I have brine shrimp cubes and blackworms.

You can feed them if they want to eat, but they might be a little stressed from the move so they might not be interested. At 3 inches you can feed them once or twice a day. It's good to feed them every day until they're fully grown. After that every other day or a couple of times a week is enough. A good guideline is that the belly should be about the same width as the head.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
