Hello,
My name is Donna Jackson. I have had newts in the past. I have a ferret and a dog currently and I am interested in getting and axolotl so I am researching and learning about these adorable critters. I live in Oak Ridge, Tn. I have worked in EMS on an ambulance since 1999. So animals, pets are what keep me somewhat sane and get me out of my own head so to speak:bowl:. I find them to be great stress relievers and its better for my liver than drinking:rolleyes:

Welcome to the forum, there is a wealth of information on here which I'm sure you'll find usefull. There are also plenty of trusted axolotl breeders on here that you can buy from :)

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
