Good Evening Everyone! Name's Fen!
I'm new, obviously, and looking to utilize the forum to help make sure that I make some good choices with axolotls. I don't currently own any newts or amphibians, but I'm looking into getting a few Axies (I've been interested in them since I was in highschool).
However, I own three cats, two comet goldfish and an 18 yr old ball python named Pan.

I'm hoping to make sure that when I do get the chance to own an Axie, I won't make too many mistakes!

Welcome to the forum! Thanks for doing the research before you get the pet. You'll find plenty of info here!!

Welcome to the forum! It's definitely a big positive that you are researching first!

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
