Maybe I could have put this in my previous topic post. I hear about Jar feeding, it i my understanding that you put food in a jar big enough for your Axie to fit in and then put the Jar in the tank. My tank is a 20L so it is like 30 inches long by 12-14" High and Deep.

Do i only put the jar in when I am feeding my axies?

What can I put in it?

Thank you.

Well, I suppose you could leave the jar in there between feedings, assuming all of the food has been eaten or you emptied the excess out. Then you won't misplace the jar.

Most people that use jars use them for messy food that would get all over the tank otherwise. So, jars are great for things like frozen blood worms. But you can put any food in there, and the advantage is that it helps keep the food contained so clean-up after the meal is easier.

I have been using jars for my guys forever now (about 7 months) and I have left the jars in but if every single bit of food is not eaten it is really gross, stuff grows in the jars nearly overnight and cleaning inside the jars was gross and I could see it being kind of hard if the jar is too small for your hand. But once you know about how much they'll eat it isn't really a big deal, I would just clean them when I do their weekly water changes. My guys seemed to enjoy sitting on/inside the jars even when it wasn't feeding time though, it was really cute :)

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
