CO2???

Hi Guys,
I just want to know about Paddletail Newts and CO2?
Would it be bad for them just like it is with the Axololts?

(Please dont shout at me - I am new to this forum), I only usually sit on the Axolotl Forum
 
Just going to keep this simple, but yes it would be bad for them.

I know you just said you were going to keep it simple, but could you elaborate as to why? Or point me in the direction of something that explains it?
 
The same reasons its not recommended with Axolotls, amphibians have permeable skin and I would imagine it wouldn't be very good for them to be constantly exposed to high amounts of CO2. I do not have an exact answer or what exactly would happen if you did expose them to it, you could probably easily find out the answer with a simple search though. I don't really see the need for it either, all newts really need are some low light plants, like java fern, java moss, elodea, and they all grow great without any added CO2 and you don't need an expensive heat emitting light fixture.

    with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

    Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

    Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
