Do any of you see a problem with leaving uneaten black worms in my axies sand? I can see there alive and fine and if the axies get hungry they will root around for them .

The only problem I see is if they're eating the worms off the sand, they might ingest too much sand and if they're small enough it could cause issues.

Also if they are big enough I think someone mentioned on here that the axies may not pass all the sand they ingest and then the sand could turn cement like and cause more problems further down the road...All in all I think it's probably best not to let them eat off the sand directly in the first place and not encourage the behavior by letting them find food when they do

My axies totally ignore the black worms in the sand. Too small to bother with.

    Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

    Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
