Hello everyone. I'm just curious, what are some herbal or even "homeopathic" things you can do for your axolotl? If they're not sick or anything, can you do stuff for them that could be beneficial? How do I pamper my babies? Thanks in advance.

If an axie isn't sick it doesn't need treating....

Having said that many people use a water conditioner with aloe vera to help with their slime coat, but others find it contributes to fungus.

Melafix and Pimafix are 'natural' remedies for bacterial and fungus infections respectively, but they are for treatment rather than preventative measures.

Tea baths are used for soothing sore skin following minor injuries and scrapes, of after a spell in bad water (e.g. for a rescued axie)

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
