I am thinking about getting one of those LED bubble wands for our 55 gallon axolotl tank. Any pointers or views on this? I have heard that some axolotls love the bubbles even though normally, axolotls don't like currents. Does anyone know how big the current is on those? Thank you! :p

I don't believe they produce much current at all, only the current from the rising bubble.

There won't be much current, but what I would worry about are the LEDs being too bright. Even the not-so-bright ones may seem really bright to the axies who have to spend their time right next to it. At least that's what I thought when I was looking at bubble wands so I just got a regular one without the LEDs instead.

Thanks for the info! I will look for one that the lights either don't have to be on all the time, or I will just find one without lights. Thanks! :D

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
