Hi, I am new to Caudata, and still trying to figure out how everything works on here. I llive in Washington. I recently found thousands of what I thought were tadpoles in a pond and brought a few home to watch grow. It turns out after doing a little research they are actually salamanders.i haven't had any of my own since I was a kid, and have never hatched any. I have had them a couple weeks now, and about six days ago they started hatching. We have four total. I'm a little concerned about the fact that even the oldest hatched one has no interest in eating. I know it can take three to five days, but this is day six, and they won't eat anything. I had mosquito larvae from the same pond, bloodworms, brine shrimp, and sinking pellets the pet store said they should eat. Am I doing something wrong?
Also I was wondering if there is any way to post a picture on here, and maybe someone could help identify what kind they are. I have looked and looked, but have no idea.
Thanks!

Welcome! I'd love to see pictures of the sals you found. I hope you are able to figure out the site. It took me a couple days to get used to it as well.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
