I was herping and I caught a palmate newt.
At closer inspection I realised that a bit of his nose (one nostril to be exact) was pink.
I though it was an injury frog rubbing against something or and animal biting it of.
I then remembered here in Belgium we have the desiese Bs it's a long name and I can't remember it.
I took him home to be on the safe side.
He is in his own tank now.
How can I tell if it's an injury or the desiese?

Do you mean Vs, as in Viral stomatitis? That's a name for condition(s)? that can affect mouths and nares, but I've only ever seen it referred to in reptiles. The newt would be more likely to be injured than suffering from a disease I would say.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
