I have 3 axolotls in a 180L tank that is set at 17 degrees. It has a play sand bottom, a pot and some live plants.
The tank was set up early Dec and was cycled.
The ammonia, nitrite and nitrate are all good. I do a partial water change once a week and the axolotls seem to be healthy they love swimming. Although I did notice for a couple of weeks the PH levels were a little high but that is now under control.
I am having a problem with hair algae it is growing on the plants and the sides of the tank. I keep pulling it out and changing the water but seem to can't get rid of it.
I have lights set-up on the tank but they are only on 4 hours out of the day.
I put a bubbler in the water near the plants and it seemed to help reduce the alage for a couple of weeks but now it is just back to being out of control.
Can someone help I don't want to put chemicals in case they aren't safe for the lotls.
