I just got two 2/3 inch axolotls and currently have them in a ten gallon tank how big should they be before I get a twenty gallon tank, I was also wondering if I could tell how old they are right now by their size

also I was wondering if I could tell if one of my axolotls is wild or melinoid

Welcome! You can move axies to a bigger tank at any time. Unless you know how old your axies are you can't always tell just by size. Normally a 3 inch axie would be about 3-4 months old, but all axies grow at different rates.

I'm almost completely certain that the one axie is melinoid but just today he/she got a big white spot on their nose and it looks like it is disintegrating please help

Could you please post a pic, as it is hard to tell what is happening without one? It could be a fungal infection but it is impossible to know without seeing a pic.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
