Hey y'all,

I recently acquired a spanish paddletail newt from a reptile show that came through Orlando. I had done a little research on newts and salamanders, I knew that I wanted one, but I am still learning a lot about them every day!

I'm 26 years old and work in the environmental science field in Central Florida. I love being outside, being in the water, and generally being surrounded by nature! I look forward to learning about the wonderful world of amphibians.

Welcome to the forum! It's a good (the best I'd guess!) place to learn more and get to know other people sharing the same interest - at least among my friends & family I'm the only one who has "such a strange hobby" ;D

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
