Hi, I'm from Washington and I'm particularly interested in keeping axolotls. I have acquired most of the things that I believe I'll need, I've spent a great amount of time researching the care axies need, and I'm now trying to introduce myself to this forum so I can begin posting in the For Sale section. :) Nice to meet you all!

Welcome to the forum :) There is a wealth of information here and a great community :)

I am beginner too! Wondering what kind of tank and filter you got. How many axies are you planning to have?

Hey! Nice to see another fellow beginner around here. I got a 40 gallon breeder from Petco. If you're a member there (which is free and incredibly easy to sign up for), they're having a $1 per gallon sale. So, I lucked out and got an Aqueon breeder tank for $40. I believe I remember them telling me this lasts until August. :) And after reading about filters for a while, I decided on a Fluval 206 canister filter. Good for the tank size I'm getting, and won't have an extremely high flow rate. I'll probably still diffuse it someway, though. As for the amount of axies, right now I'm planning on getting two. I'm not entirely sure if I could fit another in the 40 gallon breeder. I'm on the fence about it. But for now, since I'm a beginner, I don't want to bite off more than I can chew and will probably stick to two. :)

I just got an albino axolotl, not sure how old or nothing, wish someone can help me with some info because i want to make my lil friend happy and healthy...

Hiya! Did you do all the preparations before you got your little buddy? Cycled your tank? No gravel? Correct temp, pH, etc?

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
