Hello all,
New member but an old keeper of amphibians. Been keeping caudata for more than 25 years. Back when firebellies, eastern spotted and paddletails were "exotic". I have a broad scope of animal interests, particularly aquatics, but sallys have always had a special place and fondness for me.

I've spent alot of time reading information on this forum over the years but usually dont get involved with forums because most have left a bad taste due to the usual boasting, belittling and popularity contest like behavior one often finds. I must say it is refreshing to find a forum that seems to be just a place for sincerely interested folks sharing information and experience.

Glad to be here and hope to chat with you guys and gals soon.

Welcome to the forum! I share the same feeling with you, this is a friendly communion where people sincerely help and you could ask even "stupid" guestions without mobbing. Good to be here :)

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
