Hello! i'm Jenny
I am in the process of getting an axolotl. I have always wanted one and now is the time. I have 2 tanks set up at this time. One 55 gallon which is sort of a amazon biotope tank. (except of my siamese algae eater, that obviously can't be found in the Amazon)
And a Guppy tank in which I kept Guppies to breed Guppy fry for my Angelfish. I have only one big Guppy female left and am now cooling the tank down for the arrival of my Axolotl. I am familiar with tropical tanks but have difficulty switching over to a cold water tank.
I have been fascinated with Axolotls ever since I was a young girl and am pretty excited about getting one.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
