Hello caudata.org members. It's been a long time since I have logged on and thought I should say hello.

My animals are doing well - I've had a few losses but also some gains.

Anyway, I am glad to be back and hope to make forum visits a more frequent part of my hobby again. Also, looking forward to re-acquainting myself with all of you and learning more ways of keeping my little newts happy and healthy from the combined experience and expertise of this fine group of people.

Good to be back!

Heather

Welcome back. :) It will be nice to have another C. pyrrhogaster keeper around, we're a bit thin on the ground these days.

Welcome back Heather. The forum is still here and a stable resource. I know some things have shifted to facebook but I really like the care sheets and searchable topics on caudata.org. The forum is solid. Facebook is a little like a dog chasing its tail.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
