Just wanted to say "Hi". I've been lurking in the shadows for some time now. I will be getting my first axolotls in a few days which I purchased from a member of this forum named Margie. I have been actively involved in keeping and breeding frogs and toads for the last several years and it has turned out to be a passion. My creatures include Budgett's frogs, Pacman frogs, African clawed frogs, Fire belly toads, Yellow spotted climbing toads, Sonoran desert toads, Cuban tree frogs, Copes Gray tree frogs, and four different species of poison arrow frogs. Anyways I look forward to gaining from your collective knowledge and possible contributing some of my own.Glad to be here.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
