Hello there! Name's Jam. I'm a long-time dog owner, first-time amphibian owner. I bought the axie in my avatar image back in July on a bit of a whim... didn't even know about the nitrogen cycle and had to in-cycle it later, but s/he seemed to handle it pretty well, at least! I've been learning as much as I can in the meantime and I hope to make a lifetime habit of keeping aquatics and amphibians in my home!

I've lurked on these forums for quite some time but I'm sorry to say that I ended up registering because my axie seems to be sick... :(

Welcome to the forums! If you would be so kind as to go to the axolotl part of the forum, other members will gladly help you and your axolotls. Hope they get better!

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
