Hello I am from Chicago and I am new to this hobby. I love the information provided on these forums and hope to learn as much as I can here. I am interested in keeping caudates as pets as well as finding them in nature. So far because I am from a pretty developed area I haven't had a chance to find many species but I am hoping to get some cool finds this spring. I am also looking into getting a tiger salamander as my first caudate pet . I hope I can meet some people who share my passion

Thanks , have a good day

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
