Hi, guys! My name is Kate and I'm from sunny South Florida. I'm the mommy to two scorpions, three tarantulas, two geckos, a cat and an axolotl. I had two axies but one recently passed away :'( My surviving girl is not quite a year old and is already 8 inches...super playful and a huge pig. So glad to have found this forum. I attribute my axolotl's robust form to all the info I've gleaned here :)

Welcome! Glad to have you join us! My, you've got hands full with a nice variety of critters : ) Sorry to hear of the passing of your other axolotl. Glad you are caring for another though and look forward to hearing more about your posse!

I am sorry about your other axolotol. Someday I would like a few. Do you have pics of your pets?

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
