Hi guys...havent been online here in quite a while but I still have four axies in a 3ft or so tank...theres an artificial rock on corner...does water depth matter so much....are they likely to try climb out? They all seem to be fairly tolerant of each other as theyve grown up together?? Dunno what to do...they have a few hood hides and caves with plant cover...ideas anyone?

Water level is not an issue, so keep the tank filled. Axolotls can jump from the tank if they swim frantically so it's best to have some sort of a mesh lid, this allows evaporation to keep the tanks water temperature down but then stops your Axolotls accidentally getting out.

Take an image of your tank and post it!

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
