Hello! I am anxious to learn here so I won't make mistakes when I get some house frogs. or salamanders. I have always been IN AWE of salamanders - I have only seen 3 live ones in the wild in my whole life. And one of them was in my wash house, when I moved the washing machine to try and level it. which tells you a lot about my wash house. ( that was a long time ago) no salamanders were harmed in that incident. I have a wardian case in my sunroom that looks just SO BORED. it needs a frog in it. I want to make conditions habitable for this frog/frogs. I hesitate to mention this, but I really love the SOUND frogs make, as much as I like looking at them, so suggestions are welcome here.
My husband is on verge of retirement, my older daughter is gonna drive me to drink, my younger one is still home, and I have a grandchild, who is going to love frogs too. anyway, thanks for letting me in!

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
