I have 60+ less than a week old Axolotl larvae and where I live is going through a heat wave. I'm unable to cool down their room since it doesn't have air conditioning. I do have a mini fridge and I was wondering if it would be okay to put them in the fridge, doing daily water changes of course, and keeping the temperature between 50-65 degrees F. I've read that you can refrigerate them if they are sick to help them recover, but I'm not sure if it's okay to do with couple day old larvae just to keep them cool.
Thank you for any information you can give me. I hope this is in the right place.
:D

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
