Hi Cage. Today I learned something and it was because of your post, so thank you.
I took a good look at your photo and then did an image search using Google for "amphibian eggs in PA". I learned that salamander egg masses have an outer gelatinous mass which frogs spawn doesn't. So, your eggs are salamanders. Take a look at this screen shot. Next you can find out which type of salamander. Have a look at this link as they try to do just that.
Thank you for sharing and getting me involved. Scroll down the page a bit, it's superb with photos, distribution maps and fielding comments,

Looks to be a species of Ambystoma in your state.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
