Hey,
I'm Gigi and I've been a long time lurker on this forum but I decided to join. I have a small pond (probably 75ft. x 50ft.) in my backyard and I catch tadpoles, frogs, turtles, and the occasional salamander. I've never caught an adult spotted or even their larvae (only ones fresh out of the pond), I've been searching for their eggs for a few years now (I have vernal pools surrounding my property) but never found any. I was surprised to find not one but two spotted salamander egg sacks in my big pond (in the process of scanning the pond I got soaked all the way past my waist  after stepping in a deep hole but it was worth it) I collected one and three have hatched so far. If there is any tips you can give me they are well appreciated!

I raised some of these once. I just raised them like any other salamander eggs, they were cute little buggers.

yeah about thirty have hatched so far :D. I know they lay on the bottom of tank after they hatch but when will they start moving around more?

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
