Hello, my Axolotl recently was a little bloated and constipated I put him in the fridge and now he's better. I moved him into his tank yesterday and he seems fine but inactive, he's also doing this weird thing (pic attached)

Advice??

Please don't put your axie in the fridge unless
1. He's at death's door
2. You suspect he's impacted with gravel or chitin.
Think of the fridge as axie ICU, not a first aid clinic.

As for sitting like that - it's normal. Axies do weird stuff, that's why we love them.

My juvenile wild type looks like that when he has gone to the surface for air - he hits that position then floats back down. It makes me chuckle every time, he looks adorable.

My advice is to post the picture in the "goofy axolotls" thread, and have a look at some of the other pictures there.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
